Kate Middleton dons £25k of clothes in Boston – but Diana’s choker is worth £15billion

Kate Middleton, 40, went to Boston with Prince William for the Earthshot Prize Awards. The Prince of Wales created these awards to celebrate those championing sustainability throughout the world.

For this short trip, the Princess of Wales wore mainly recycled clothes and jewellery, and any new pieces tended to be bought from sustainable brand labels.

However, her outfit came to a total of at least £25,031. This does not include any jewellery which Kate inherited after becoming a member of the Royal Family which she wore on her trip to Boston.

When Kate arrived in Boston on Wednesday, she donned a recycled Alexander McQueen “Peak Shoulder Leaf Crepe Jacket in Navy” which came to a whopping £1,490.

She paired this with matching Alexander McQueen “High-waisted Cigarette Trousers” which came to just £550 from Farfetch.

For footwear, she wore her favourite Gianvito Rossi “105 Navy Suede Pumps” which she has worn many times before, and cost just £595 from Net-A-Porter.

The Princess accessorised with sapphire earrings which previously belonged to Princess Diana. Alexandra Michell, a Gemologist at Prestige Pawnbrokers of Channel 4’s Posh Pawn fame, spoke to Express.co.uk about these jewels.

She said: “Fast forward to Kate’s sapphire earrings, it is believed that one of these pairs of earrings which Diana had, a part of them was remodelled into a pair of single diamond topped sapphire and diamond cluster earrings.”

Alexandra estimates they could be sold at auction for “an excess of £200,000”. For jewellery lovers, Alexandra described the piece: “Hanging from shepherd’s hooks, the round cut single diamonds look to be about 0.30-carats each, with nine slightly larger 0.40pcts diamonds on each earring surrounding approximately five-carat each oval cut sapphires, most likely of Kashmir origin.”

Later on during Kate’s visit, she first wore a bespoke Alexander McQueen Green Coat which she teamed with a bespoke Burberry Tartan Dress. Both of these pieces are assumed to be vintage garments because of the Earthshot Prize Awards’ focus on sustainability.

She carried a Mulberry England “Amberley Small Satchel Bag in Heavy Grain Mulberry Green” that came to a total of £850.

For footwear, she donned some Emmy London official “Rebecca Green Pumps” for just £425. To accessorise she wore a new pair of Shyla London “Chunky Knot Baroque Pearl Earrings”, which is renowned as a sustainable label, for just £72.

To watch an NBA basketball game later in the day, the Princess wore a recycled Chanel “Vintage 1995 Trimmed Double-Breasted Jacket” which she wore just earlier this year. She paired these with another pair of Gianvito Rossi pumps, but this time in black suede as opposed to navy, which cost a further £595.

To accessorise she wore some Shyla London “Biaritz Squiggle Earrings” for just £74. She also wore a Laura Lombardi “Portrait Necklace” for an additional £158.

On Thursday, the Princess wore a Roland Mouret burgundy single-breasted blazer which she paired with the “Axon Side Zip Wide Leg Pants in Burgundy”, the latter of which cost £779.

She was seen carrying a Chanel “Burgundy Calfskin Boy Flap Bag with Enamel Handle” for a sensational £3,426. Kate then wore her Gianvito Rossi “105 Royale Burgundy Suede Pumps” for a further £595 from Net-A-Porter. To accessorise, the Princess wore a beautiful pair of Daniella Draper “Gold Diamond Luxury Maxi Cupid Hoop Earrings” for a whopping £2,450.

Later on during the day, Kate wore another bespoke Alexander McQueen coat to champion sustainability. She teamed this with a matching Gabriela Hearst “Peppe Cashmere and Silk Sweater” for £586 and a Gabriela Hearst “Epper Ribbed-Knit High-Rise Midi Skirt” for an additional £1,180.

The shoes, however, were bespoke brown suede boots from Gianvito Rossi, showing that the Princess did not purchase too many new items for the brief royal trip with Prince William. She again wore her Daniella Draper earrings for this occasion to save on buying too many new pieces of jewellery.

For the grand Earthshot Prize Awards, Kate wore a dashing Solace London “Sabina Maxi Dress in Bright Green” which she rented from Hurr for just £74 for the night. This original dress costs £350 if royal fans wish to buy the bright garment, showing that the Princess saved £276 with her sustainable choices.

She paired the beautiful green dress with some Gianvito Rossi “Rania 105 Embellished Pumps” for an additional £1,850. To accessorise, she wore some Asprey London “Emerald & Diamond Halo Earrings Mounted in Platinum” for a whopping £9,282.

She also wore Queen Mary’s Art Deco Emerald Choker, an item loved by the late Princess Diana, which is worth up to £15billion according to Steven Stone jewellers.
